High demand in China means high gas in Temple

Pump prices climb 22 cents locally in a week

That last digit in the year isn’t the only thing that went up overnight.

Temple drivers woke up on Day 1 of 2023 to average gas prices that were 3 cents per gallon more than yesterday and 22 cents higher than last Sunday.

While today’s average price for regular-grade gas is $2.804 in the Temple and Belton area, the state and national averages are $2.841 and $3.208, respectively.

Diesel has risen about 8 cents in the last week nationally and about 12 cents in Temple and across Texas.
