Graham Reynolds, an Austin-based composer will present a free concert Friday night at Temple College, and he will be working with TC music students earlier in the day.
The concert, sponsored by the Texas A&M Central Texas Artist in Residency program, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center.
According to Dr. Sara Baker, dean of Temple College’s Department of Fine Arts, Graham is best known for his longtime collaboration with Oscar-winning film director Richard Linklater.
“His collaboration with Texas A&M Central Texas was borne out of a desire of our students to learn about film scoring and the professional side of being a conductor,” Baker said. “At lunch on Friday, Graham will meet with music students to hear some of their work and answer questions.”
Adam Cicero, Reynold’s agent, said the concert will be memorable.
“Graham is bringing a nine-piece band, including a string quartet, rhythm section and more,” Cicero said. “You’ll hear selections from his film and TV soundtracks, his theater and dance sores, and some of his personal work.”
“Graham will talk about his composition and collaborative process, and he also is bringing some cool tech toys such as guitar pedals, a sampler and Abelton Live,” he said. “Expect the unexpected.”
