Downtown Abbey Tea Party to benefit TCT
DAVID STONE | OUR TOWN TEMPLE
Call it a tea party with a cause.
The Temple Civic Theatre Guild will host a fundraising “high tea” on Sunday, May 7, at the historic Windmill House in North Temple.
The event will be held from 2-5 p.m. and tickets are $30 each.
“The event will have a Downtown Abbey theme, and we encourage those attending to wear period costumes,” said Dr. Sara Harris Baker, co-president of the guild along with Tracilyn Jones-Poss, the new owner of Windmill House.
“The Temple Civic Theatre had a guild back in the 1990s and it sort of fizzled out,” Baker said. “With the new hires of an executive/artistic director and technical director, we felt it was time to bring back this organization.”
“Our mission is to raise friends and funds for Temple Civic Theatre,” she said.
The guild has been quite active this theater season. So far, the group has held Thursday night show receptions, raffle baskets, a Boo Bash in October and booths at the Bell County Senior Expo and the Day for Women. The guild also will operate a booth during Bloomin’ Temple Festival later this month.
